Why?
First of all, cubers constantly share information with one another (algorithms, tricks, etc) and it's a bit of a hassle to have to repeatedly share information individually. The other incentive I had to create this website is to be able to refer people who are interested to a specific place in order to find more information about our relatively obscure hobby.
The reason "cubers constantly share information with one another" is because, unlike most other competitive sports (yes, I consider cubing a "sport"), cubing is in it's infancy. No, we don't have large corporations like Coca Cola or Nike sponsoring us. There usually isn't a significant amount of money at stake - and even when there is, pride and bragging rights are often considered bigger incentives. Our current small scale is what has led to cubing becoming a community committed to the betterment of every member as a whole in order to break seemingly concrete barriers. I realize that I would be much slower than I am right now if it weren't for the great resources provided to me by other cubers that have taught me most of what I know. I'm just trying to give back to the community with this website.
Speedcubing is just like anything else, you'd be amazed at what practice can do for you. You can get faster than you probably thought possible, and that doesn't just mean solving the 3x3 Rubik's Cube. Maybe you could end up being the Megaminx World Champion, who knows... But, you’ll never find out if you don’t try!
